Today, Glen and I took the ferry from Auckland city over to Waiheke Island – a 45-minute journey to the island with a population of less than 9,000.

We got a great deal online for a Waiheke Island Wine Tour, which took us from the ferry terminal to three wineries: Goldie Wines, Wild on Waiheke and the newly opened Batch Winery.

All three wineries were beautiful and different, and I would highly recommend Around Waiheke Tours to shuttle you between the wineries as drunk driving is bad and although Waiheke is an island, it would take a looong time to ride your bike anywhere as it is quite hilly!

Bye Auckland…

The vibe was totally different from the big smoke of Auckland – very laid back, surrounded by lush landscape and beaches. I was really sad to leave! I would have loved to stay for a few nights and explore some more!
